Your future role:
Alstom is expanding rapidly, and the teams are growing to continue to support the transfer of the Cairo project (Canada to Derby); making it a great time to join our expanding team and business as part of your career plan. The Train System Engineer (Electrical) is a key role to take the Design Authority responsibility for the Train System and lead Cairo (combined with Platform Bankok, Refsol, SDLC/KAFD) activities within the Train System Electrical EDU. This is an on-site role with ad-hoc flexible working arrangements agreed with the line manager.
We’ll look to you for:
Technically leading the engineering studies to reach the required performance and fulfil the needs of our customers.
Focus on understanding the integration and environment in which our trains operate, analysing our customers need, developing and iterating design through the life cycle of a project.
Working within the electrical architecture team, you will undertake case analysis simulations for dimensioning, performance & cost trade-offs and provide inputs to and confirm sub-system technical requirements, working with our suppliers and supporting the integration into train level specifications.
Leading key sub-systems and provide full integration into our vehicle architecture, ensuring the interfaces (mechanical, electrical and data network/communications) are confirmed for the design and are clearly understood with all involved.
Working in multi-disciplined teams and collaborating across the Engineering team and with wider stakeholders, you will own the development of the Train level specifications on a project ensuring that they are consistent, complete, and correct.
Reviewing and confirming train designs to ensure that the system requirements are being met throughout the project life cycle.
As a Train System Engineer, you will have been practiced in the ability to go beyond action, being agile and be effective within a cross-cultural community, be self-aware and place a priority on personal development and the development of others both in your team and in the wider engineering community, you will be versed in the encouragement of strategic thinking and promote innovation whilst demonstrating an ethical and civic outlook.

Degree in Engineering as the role will entail performing electrical calculations
Experience of System Engineering and experience in embedded systems
English language
Background in electrical testing and validation
Mechanical experience will be advantageous
