Project Director - Infrastructure 

 

Overview

 

The main purpose of this role is lead and direct project teams in the delivery of railway system infrastructure projects within the UK.

The Project Director will act as the contract leader and be accountable for all aspects of the project,specifically for safety, programme, budget and quality standards.

Reporting to the Infrastructure & Turnkey Director (UK&I), the Project Director will act as the principal point of contact with the customer and key project stakeholders.

This role will require travel to key stakeholders and project offices mainly between London & Birmingham.

The immediate assignment will be to lead the delivery of design, delivery and commissioning phases of infrastructure projects (value £75m) with progression to leading major projects (£250m-£500m in value).

 

 

  • Main AccContract leader for all contracts allocated under their responsibility.
  • Identify the organisational requirements and ensure all roles are recruited to meet the resource profile.
  • Accountable for safety, cost, quality, operations, environmental & business management systems
  • Contractual responsibilities for allocated projects.
  • Delivery of design, installation / construction, commissioning and close out phases of the project. 
  • Execution of all internal & external work packages within the project.
  • Developing key supply chain relationships including clear sub-contractor accountabilities.   
  • Support the Infrastructure & Turnkey Director to achieve budget targets and business KPI’s.
  • Drive operational delivery excellence and safe project execution.
  • Report on monthly progress v plan, including profit & loss, risk and opportunity management.  
  • Preparation and implementation of Alstom Project Quality Management System throughout the project.
  • Preparation and implementation of a project specific Health and Safety Plan to be completed for each project.
  • Ensure the Alstom Project Change Control is implemented.
  • Represent Alstom at senior stakeholder meetings.
  • Provide mentoring and acting as role model to members of the Project Management Team.
  • Comply with and promote all relevant Environment, Health & Safety measures, responsibilities and activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify new / innovative solutions to resolving project challenges. 
     

 

Educational Requirements - Mandatory

  • Degree or Higher National Diploma equivalent qualification  
  • To gain qualification into a recognised Project Management Institution within 1 year. 
  • Completion & qualification of various Health & Safety courses. 
  • Completion & qualification of various Environmental courses. 
  • Valid Personal Track Safety certification. 
  • Association of Project Managers accredited training course.

 

Desirable: 

  • Principle Investigation course/training/qualification. 
  • Risk Management training. 
  • The practitioner level of Association of Project Managers. 

 

Experience -Mandatory:  

  • Extensive experience in leading a large, disparate, multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Experience of the management of large multidisciplinary contracts £75m+
  • Involvement of successfully delivering E&P, Civils or M&E rail systems infrastructure projects.
