Job Descrption

Are you looking for a fulfilling and rewarding career rather than just another job? Maybe you’re stuck in a rut and ready to find your next challenge? If you have experience working as a Planning Manager, are keen to expand upon that experience, and are ready to join a forward-thinking company that really delivers progression and personal growth, then you’re in the right place!

Dedicated to the M&S Clothing & Home operation at Bradford, you’ll be responsible for taking volume forecasts and turning them into meaningful operational and labour plans, making sure we have sufficient capacity and the right number of people at the right time to meet demand.

This is a full time, permanent role. The working hours are Monday to Friday 37.5 per week, with some flexibility on start time between 07:00 and 09:00.

Pay, benefits and more:

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £40,000 per annum. You’ll also get 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. You’ll have access to private healthcare, a dental plan, a workplace pension, our GXO University which provides you the opportunity to learn new skills and gain qualifications at a pace that you’re comfortable with. Plus, many other perks such as a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme and our continued focus on internal promotions, over 51% last year!

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • You’ll ensure that there is sufficient resource and capacity available to meet demand, identifying and tracking key variables impacting KPI’s and budget
  • You’ll track variances in planned volumes versus budget & forecasts, analyse the data and provide information to the operations and finance team for budgeting purposes, projecting trends and planning contingency
  • You will plan staffing requirements which include ad-hoc, short- and long-term modelling staffing requirements as volumes change
  • You’ll be involved in monthly forecast reviews with site management and the customer

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • You’ll have experience in demand, capacity, and resource planning, preferably in third party logistics or a similar environment
  • You’ll need confident communication skills as you’ll be liaising with multiple functions across the business, such as operations, finance and HR, senior management and the customer
  • You’ll need to work well on your own initiative, taking responsibility for processes and your workload, as well as that of your team
  • Managing change and changing priorities will not phase you – this is logistics after all!
