Here at GXO Logistics, we’re looking for an Assistant General Manager to provide expert leadership and direction across our operation, ensuring a high-quality and safe service is delivered to all our customers. You’ll be responsible for preparing and managing the warehouse budget and business plans, whilst supporting and managing the development of your team.

 

Your working hours will be any 5 days from 7, 08:00 – 16:30, however, some flexibility will be required. This is a full-time, permanent position to be based at our multi-user site in Peterborough.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £65,000 per annum and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Set individual safety objectives for all members of the team and ensure that the site’s safety performance is met
  • Prepare and manage warehouse budget and business plans, producing and review forecasts with the customer, in line with business performance, utilising labour and other resources, including recruitment
  • Defining, compiling and analysing agreed KPI information to ensure optimal efficiency and performance of the warehouse operation
  • Promoting effective and harmonious employee relations through formal and informal communication channels where appropriate, ensuring all individuals have the right skills to do their jobs effectively and skills gaps are identified
  • Drive change and continuous improvement initiatives, leading by example and demonstrating company values at all times

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  •  
  • Proven successful warehouse management and transport operations experience is essential
  • Strong team management and coaching skills coupled with the ability to drive/implement change
  • Demonstrable track record of managing an operation through objective setting, including the establishment and monitoring of KPI’s and managing budgets and monitoring actual against budget
  • Experience of conducting disciplinary, grievance and appeal meetings in line with company HR policies and statutory guidelines
  • Experience working with internal and external customers, with the ability to influence stakeholders
