BAM FM is recruiting a Hard Services Manager to join the team in Bristol.

Reporting to the on-site Facilities Manager, the role will be responsible for assisting with the smooth delivery of all aspects of the PFI contract. The remit of the contract includes a wide range of hard and soft FM services. A “hands on” role the Hard Services Manager will support the Facilities Manager in the management, development and ensure cohesion of a small service delivery team based on the Bristol Schools. 

This is a full time, Monday to Friday.

Your mission

•    Reporting into the FM manger, providing technical support and leadership for the Hard Services contract requirements.
•    Support the management and development of the FM team to successfully achieve company, team and personal goals to achieve the service delivery requirements.
•    Responsible for the collation and submission of the annual Lifecycle surveys to include a fully costed submission.
•    The job holder will be responsible for coordinating lifecycle annual (short), medium and long term lifecycle works and liaising with the Lifecycle Manager, Projects team and FM Manager.
•    Ensuring all Lifecycle and ANC projects are delivered to the correct standard and the correct documentation and certification is received.
•    Support the management of the M&E sub-contractors on site ensuring works are completed to the required standard while adopting safe working practices.
•    Manage all technical ANC’s ensuring they are correctly priced and delivered. Ensuring the delivery is line with all legislation and regulations. 
•    Provide the Premises teams with the technical support. 
Ensure the management of the services is carried out in accordance with:
    - Contract specification
    - Good commercial, management and industry practices 
    - Quality, environmental, safety and health  management systems requirements
    - Appropriate statutory and other legislative requirements including applicable standards and codes of practice
    - BAM FM polices
•    Manage reactive and planned maintenance repair works in line with contracted key performance indicators.
•    Ensure that all M&E services are made available within the requirements of the contract specifications.
•    Ensure all services are operated in the most economical and efficient manner.
•    Instigate and monitor BAM FM Health and Safety Procedures.
•    Co-ordinate activities where multiple trades are involved, including “permit to work”.
•    Support the management of the Authorised Person (AP) duties.
•    Support the management of the Authorised Person (AP) duties and roles involving confined spaces control, review and issuing of permits.

Who are we looking for?

  • PFI service management experience relevant to a working environment within the facilities management industry. 
  • Educated with appropriate apprenticeship/vocational qualifications in mechanical or electrical disciplines and experienced in assessing the operation and maintenance duties within large facilities.
  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical and electrical disciplines to HNC Level.
  • Experience of electrical/mechanical maintenance, testing & fault finding on a variety of equipment including air conditioning, plumbing, boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, generators, switchgear, cables, batteries, small power and lighting (where applicable).
  • Good leadership attributes complimented with the ability to communicate, organise, motivate, manage and develop staff.
  • Will have suitable work experience of delivering a diverse portfolio of services utilising a combination of directly employed personnel and subcontracted service providers in a quality-focussed, environment subject to KPI performance monitoring procedures.  
  • Experience in delivering high Health & Safety performance.
  • Competent knowledge of IT packages (Concept desirable)
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent people management skills
