Provide leadership and direction to the Team to ensure all operational goals are met to include Safety, Quality, Profitability, Production, and Customer Service. Provide business excellence through linkages throughout the organization by way of cooperation and support with all functions including Sales, Customer Service, Human Resources, Finance and Engineering. Provide and communicate a clear vision for profitable growth through implementation of World-Class techniques that will provide sustainable improvements.
Responsible for leading department initiatives through a collaborative team effort to fulfill customer requirements, team building and training.
Directly supervise superintendents/supervisors
Adjusts manpower based upon sales forecasting, past trending and/or machine capability rates
Manage maintenance of line
Identify, implement and evaluate lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement activities for all manufacturing operations to increase productivity and efficiency rates
Partner with internal operations suppliers (quality, safety, production control, etc) to ensure quality, deliver, safety, etc goals are achieved
Required to facilitate monthly/weekly/daily departmental meetings
Provides leadership and development to first line supervisors and dotted line reports in production departments including establishing objectives, setting goals, and managing accountability for attaining deliverables required of supervisory team
Deliver to customers while accomplishing goals in business plan
Encourages and implements team member involvement
Responsible for managing build schedules
Overall accountability and responsibility for business plans, and annual budget for the strategic unit.
Provide input to pre- and post-launch product strategies.
Lead and manage the implementation of activities approved in the business plan.
Will be required to work across multiple shifts and/or weekends as determined by plant manager or designate
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in related field or 10 years of manufacturing experience in progressively responsible roles
Min. 8 years hands-on management experience in manufacturing multi-shift operation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must have experience managing in a union environment
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Extensive knowledge and experience with lean Manufacturing and the Toyota Production System (or equivalent).
Demonstrated accomplishment in 5S, Kanban, Standard Work, Built-In Quality, Single Piece Flow Concepts
Familiarity in a technical manufacturing environment preferred
Able to comprehend technical issues and solutions
Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload and ability to meet deadlines.
Proven success in team building and motivating a team through to reaching established goals.
Must be a Change Agent able to lead continuous improvement effort
Must be able to interact with all levels of organization and may be required to facilitate workshops
Results oriented and excellent analytical, strategic, business planning, communication, and decision-making skills.
Ability to travel
Excellent problem solving, organizational, and negotiating skills.
