Position Summary

 

Nestlé Product Technology Centre (NPTC) are currently recruiting for an experienced Product Experience Specialist to join the team at our York offices. This is a fantastic opportunity that would see you provide expert sensory and consumer knowledge at a local and global level, specifically working in collaboration with Markets, Zones and Nestlé’s Confectionery Strategic Business Unit based in Switzerland. The focus of this role being to ensure our product innovation and renovation agenda meets consumer expectations and our business strategy for the long term. We are looking for somebody who is passionate to help delight our consumers every time.

A day in the life of a Product Experience Specialist

 

As a Product Experience Specialist, you will be responsible for constantly seeking to improve consumer and sensory insight best practices, promoting the use of sensory and consumer research across all areas of innovation and renovation. Having a consumer centric mindset, other key skills include:
 
•    Work in collaboration with the business and NPTC to define what consumer insight is needed, benefit territory and technical solutions in the context of the strategic business opportunity.
•    Act as a key business partner helping to define questions and outcomes from consumers and sensory insight support, adding value to influence project successes. 
•    Manage and execute consumer studies with excellence, playing an active part in cross functional project teams by providing guidance on the use and choice of consumer methodologies.
•    Lead & Manage Preference mapping studies. 
•    Fully autonomous to perform statistical analysis for consumers studies.
•    Manage studies from planning and design through to analysis, reporting and the presentation of results in line with best practices and expectations.
•    Work in close collaboration with external agencies and sensory team to deliver flawless execution.
•    Define, deliver, and maintain consumer sensory insight methods. (ensuring the adoption of Good taste tests, preference mapping, etc.)
•    Be a lighthouse for Nestlé when building new, disruptive techniques and always focused on continuous improvement.
 
What will make you successful?

 

You will have a wide range of experience in statistical analyses within the field of product insight and consumer product testing techniques as well as their applications. To include experience with Preference mapping studies as well as 60/40 Good Taste experience. Ideally qualified to MSc degree level or equivalent in Sensory Science, Consumer Science, Food Science or similar. You will have a passion for consumer quality and be able to look at different ways/techniques to deliver results whilst acting as an ambassador for the Nestlé Confectioner brand. Being able to demonstrate your ability to influence is key as is being proactive and adaptable. It is a given that you will know the importance of being able to flex your style whilst working in an environment that can be, at times, ambiguous. 

 

You’ll also:


•    Demonstrate knowledge of conducting and applying qualitative and quantitative consumer testing focused on preference mapping and the 60/40/Good Taste techniques.
•    Have great collaboration and influencing skills.
•    Have fantastic story-telling and analytical skills.
•    Be developed in identifying and translating insight into meaningful innovation and renovation.
•    Be able to run sizeable projects and work streams ideally across multi-markets.
•    Demonstrate a pragmatic approach with the ability to operate and execute at pace.
•    Ideally have experience in consumer-packaged goods in an R&D capacity.
•    Ideally have experience of working in the sensory field.
•    Ideally have experience in the chocolate category or similar field.
•    Confident in performing statistical analysis and interpreting results from it.
