Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Customer Development Manager to join our Nestlé Health Science team to deliver Commercial Excellence across the consumer retail business in line with business priorities. This role is pivotal in the commercial success of the UK & Ireland business, taking responsibility for the delivery of the commercial strategy in an omni-channel landscape alongside our customer facing teams.  

 

You will scope and measure in-store executional excellence across all channels utilising key sales systems to develop intuitive reporting and identify opportunities to drive incremental growth and optimise customer performance whilst driving efficiency with the Sales team.  

 

This role will form strong relationships between Sales, Category, Marketing and Digital, both in market and with our Global colleagues to deliver best in class product launches, campaign initiatives and category activations. 

 

Reporting directly to the Head of Sales Operations, you will be working for the world’s largest food and drink manufacturer with some of the worlds most loved Vitamins and Supplement brands, think Solgar, Vital Proteins, Minami, Nuun hydration and more!

A day in the life of a Customer Development Manager  ...
Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Manage the Field Sales system, working close with the Head of Field Sales to provide reporting, performance analysis and gap reports. Managing the system upgrades, supporting documents and ensuring it is fit for purpose. 
  • Support the Brand and Innovation Managers in the I2L process, becoming the single point of contact for Sales and Category inputs for NPD and business case development.  Working with colleagues in Sales and Category to provide size of prize estimations, range review timings and merchandising opportunities to develop best in class launches. 
  • Establish and manage on going call cycle process that supports the Integrated Commercial Planning (ICP) and Monthly Business Planning (MBP) priorities across all the channels including the management of bad goods and identifying opportunities across customers.  Ensure collaboration between Category, Sales & Brand to inspire, engage and deliver sales KPIs.
  • Customer data analysis - turning insight into compelling commercial propositions utilising all data sources, Field Sales system, EPOS, Shopper data etc aligned to brand and category priorities outside of NPD.
  • Work with the Business Managers to determine best in class JBPs, becoming customer contact for in-store activation working alongside the brand managers to bring the portfolio to life and leading the shopper strategy and activation priorities.
  • Lead Sales and Category SRM workstreams; developing best in class approach to commercial levers for the UK&I customers, owning the actions and co-ordinating response with customers and determining next steps.
  • Customer & Shopper centric approach to communications; managing delists, Supply and Stock changes, pricing and all customer communications.
  • Create a winning environment by motivating, inspiring and coaching the Business Managers and Field Sales team to achieve their full potential and exceed their individual KPIs.


What will make you successful
To be successful, you’ll have strong commercial awareness and experience in Sales within the UK and / or Ireland, ideally with Pharmacy / HFS, and Grocery experience. You will be passionate, tenacious, results focused and enjoy working in a highly energetic and exciting environment.

 

In addition, you will:

  • Be highly numerate and analytical with the ability to critically analyse data, improve process and procedure
  • Be an excellent communicator at all levels
  • Have the ability to establish long-term relationships with stakeholders, internal and external 
  • Have previous experience in system implementation and management
  • Customer development is an advantage
  • Be resilient with a can-do attitude, open minded to diverse perspectives
  • Comfortable with complexity and ambiguity
  • Ability to see opportunities and implement action plans
  • Strengths in quantitative rigour (Analytical Skills)
