Position Summary

We’re looking for a Chemistry Technician to join the Nestle Quality Assurance Centre (NQAC) team in York on 12 Month fixed-term contract; it’s a great position where you will get to work with a real mixture of our brands.

The Chemistry team ensure that consumers have accurate information regarding the nutritional profile of our products, and that our products consistently meet the defined nutritional standards.

 

A day in the life of a Chemistry Technician

 

As a Chemistry Section Technician, you will be responsible for managing the preparation of Chemistry samples following the relevant procedures, ensuring on time delivery prior to further analysis. You will also carry out laboratory duties including calibration, cleaning, maintenance, and stock management to support the Chemistry analysts with Good Laboratory Practice requirements and on-time delivery of results.

 

Other responsibilities include:

 

•    Disposal of completed samples, chemicals, and other waste materials

•    Ensuring workplace is safe and work is carried out in a safe manner

•    Working with NQAC York Customer Service department to ensure efficient processing of customer samples

•    Active contribution and support of the daily and weekly operation review process by sharing openly issues that relate to the performance of the department.

•    Defining and updating quality procedures, instructions, forms and tools

 

 

What will make you successful?

 

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual with a scientific background and ideally some experience within a laboratory. Training will be provided.

 

Other attributes would include:


•    Relevant science qualifications – GCSE/A Levels/BTEC or equivalent

•    Ability to work on own initiative.
•    Ability to manage and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
•    Ability to trust your own judgement as to when to involve/seek advice from line management   

     on issues that deviate from normal policy.
•    A team player
