Applications Engineer Manager – Industry Applications
Objective:
This is the lead Engineering role in the Industry Application Americas team. This role will support sales and channel initiatives with NORMA technical information ranging from applications, products, and working with the sales team to propose solutions for customer projects. This information will include technical comparisons to competitive products, applications, and obtain new test data by partnering with NORMA labs. Work collaboratively with IA sales / Product Development Engineering/ manufacturing plants, / regional and global Product team, Broader NORMA engineering teams, Engineering services (CAD, test labs) , and externally with customers.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead the navigation of PLM projects with PDE
As well as with adjacent AEs when necessary. (FTS/CWS)
Helping to determine best product for specific customer applications
Sharing knowledge of Fasten products with Sales and Customers alike to promote line card expansion
Support sales team’s customer activities (as the “engineering expert”) including at customer locations
Primary Responsibilities:
Determine correct NORMA product solutions for customer applications
Lead the navigation of PLM projects with PDE
Support sales team’s customer activities (as the “product expert”) including at customer locations
Support marketing activities (catalogs, etc.) with needed product information
Lead on the IA PIMs data working cross functionally with NORMA engineering
Defines and manages application engineering projects to bring prioritized products to customers:
Product specifications changes including BOM (Bill of Mat’l) changes
Packaging additions and changes (interface with packaging engr. resources)
Part and packaging project support
Application engineering project management
Prototype control
Design reviews

Reporting & Leadership Responsibilities:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering (required, must be from accredited institution, full 4 year degree (not a “technology degree” or “engr. technician” certificate); Mechanical Engr. desired)
Experience with metals (required), stainless steel specifically (desired), plastics and rubber (desired) materials
Experience with stamping, roll forming, automated assembly, injection / press molding mfg. processes.
Experience with exhaust, fluid and air flow, products, and applications (desired).
Minimum 5 years of Engineering experience (required)
Design, test, CAD, applications, development experience (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering. Ability to apply engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and analysis to real world needs and product uses
Skilled in Active Listening
Knowledge of project management techniques
Ability to organize and direct a project to completion
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office suite, Engineering databases, CAD (general knowledge required only) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (desired)
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
Skills and ability to design and conduct a systematic, objective, and critical investigation
Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, machine lubricants, airborne particles, vibration and risk of electrical shock in plants. May require the use of protective equipment
Occasionally exposed to moderate noise level in plants
Regularly required to talk and hear
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
Ability to maintain considerable levels of concentration while working under time pressures and interruptions
