The ideal candidate will have knowledge and ability in all the 12 core functions of substance abuse counseling. They must have the ability to do one on ones, give lectures, and run groups, assessments, treatment planning, and discharge planning. Must be able to handle crisis well. Flexible multitasking necessary. The position requires the person to work flexible hours, days, some evenings and rotating weekends.
Must have the needed coursework to certify or license as an addiction counselor in the state of SD. If possible - include your transcript with your application.
Applicant must have experience working with adolescents with legal involvement and substance use issues.
Experience with juvenile probation and alternative education are preferred.
