dormakaba is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, based in Indianapolis, IN. This role supports the sustainability of our products and ensures the maintenance of product integrity throughout manufacturing and assembly. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will partner with product design teams, technical support, quality, manufacturing, operations groups, and external suppliers to resolve concerns and issues in a timely manner and ensure that documentation is updated, communicated, and recorded in approved systems and methods.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $100,000 - $120,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Work independently and with peers to understand product design and design intent through study and understanding of 3D Component and Assembly models and 2D technical drawings
Support manufacturing teams with design details and intent, root cause analysis and corrective action on manufacturing equipment and processes
Support Master Data with product design options, manufacturing understanding, and assembly operations
Ensure all project and engineering documentation is properly recorded and archived, using engineering due diligence and existing company policies and procedures
Monitor and report project status and develop contingency plans to assure that product development tasks are completed within time and budget constraints
WHAT WE REQUIRE
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
Demonstrated experience with fixture and gauge design and implementation
Comprehension of kinematics, statics, dynamics, stress analysis, properties of materials, and mechanism design
Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M-2009+)
Ability to perform DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and C&E analyses
Working knowledge of CAD Data Management systems
High level proficiency in 3D CAD modeling & detailing - Creo/ProE
WHAT WE PREFER
Applied knowledge of electro-mechanics and electronics packaging
Working knowledge of Windchill
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems
