JOB TITLE: Technical Consultant
SITUATION IN ORGANISATION

JOB DIMENSIONS
Technical Support- contractors, distributors and Bostik sales team
ACTIVITIES
Site Visits: A major part of the role is to effectively plan and report on site visits on behalf of contractors and
distributors. Site visits require full use of appropriate PPE and liaisons with main contractors on site to ensure all
H and S elements are complied with.
Functions on site will include moisture testing, complaint analysis, product application trials and evaluations.
Reporting: Reporting to include full factual write up of results from site visits in order to offer product
recommendations. This is to be done in a standardised agreed format within the technical department.
Complaints to be fully reported and registered within the Bostik complaints system. Where appropriate follow up
testing of products liaising with Bostik Laboratory and, if required, external test houses.
Utilisation of Salesforce customer database is expected as part of the role.
Training: Working in conjunction with Bostik Training Manager and relevant ASMs, product training for customers
at head office, sites or customer premises will be required. This will include both practical and theoretical training,
so a full understanding of product application and PowerPoint presentations is required
Working within the technical support team you will be required also to attend and participate in flooring sales
meeting including ongoing training of the sales team.
Customer support: The role involves direct communication, by telephone, email and face to face with a wide
range of contractors, distributors etc so good interpersonal skills are required. The ability to keep a calm
demeanour in pressurised situations will be a major benefit. A questioning and inquisitive approach is desirable to
enable resolutions to flooring problems/challenges to be formulated.
Support for new product development to include arranging, attending and reporting on site trials and liaising with
Bostik development team to evaluate products during the product development phases. Reporting of such
activities is required
Full ongoing training will be provided where required
The role will require excellent self-motivation and time management. It will on occasions involve work outside of
normal office hours and will require some overnight stays away from home.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
Area to be mainly but not exclusively North of England and Scotland.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Reporting directly to the Construction Technical Service Manager. Part of the professional flooring technical
support team.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
A full UK driving license is required. Experience of commercial flooring applications and installations is desirable.
