Job Descrption
We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Quality Engineer. At L&P Aerospace, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interactions. How high are our quality standards, you ask? So much so, that we have products on-board the Space Launch System with NASA, as well as the F-15 and F-35 fighter jets! If you join our team, your work will ensure families across the world fly a little safer, wherever their travels may take them.
As a Quality Engineer, you will be purely focused on daily tasks of the Quality department and maintaining our QMS standard. This could involve working on audits, FAIR’s, calibration, inspection plans, PPAP’s, working with suppliers, customers and any other Quality related tasks required by the business.
Core Responsibilities
- Supporting the company’s Quality Management System.
- Assuring delivered products or components meet the design and reliability requirements by using multiple process improvement tools.
- Supports Design and Manufacturing with assignments throughout the project life cycle, including quality assigned responsibilities as part of change management.
- Problem solving for product and process related concerns; reviews process audit results and recommends corrective/preventive action.
- Product containment and oversight of inspection of non-conforming product.
- Performs quality audits on various processes to ensure that all requirements are being followed.
- Support supplier problem solving.
- Maintaining approval supplier listing, monitoring supplier approvals.
- Review and approval of supplier FAIR(First Article Inspection Reports) for incoming product.
- Performs PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports), supporting the planning and completion.
- Involvement in Continuous improvement activities alongside other members of the business using multiple continuous improvement tools.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Internal auditing in accordance with the company audit schedule.
- Calibration management with external service provider.
Role Specifications
Experience And Skills
- Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to adapt and prioritize with changing situations.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
- Works well within both cross functional teams and alone.
- Able to provide strong representing of the quality function to both internal and external parties.
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems, ideally ISO 9001; AS9100.
- Awareness/Understanding of NADCAP requirements for NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) and welding, desirable but not essential.
- Experience with Quality management systems application and maintenance.
- Internal and Supplier auditing.
- Solid knowledge and experience maintaining quality engineering practices and products.
- Experience with FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports).
- Experience with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
- Performing 8D’s and dealing with customer returns and complaints.
- Solid analytical skills and judgment to proactively identify and solve increasingly complex problems.
Education
Post-Secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation.
Additional Detail
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, office based.
