£13.20 (effective from 1 April 2024)

 

37.5 hours per week

We are seeking a Senior Care and Support Assistant to join us in making a real difference to the lives of our customers. You will be integral to ensuring they lead a happy and fulfilled lifestyle. We offer a very supportive induction process, ensuring you will have all the encouragement you need to learn the role.

 

Located in a quiet area of Trowbridge close to Southwick Country Park, our newly refurbished residential care home consists of 14 bedrooms in the main building and 3 further bedrooms in two bungalows, adjacent to the main home. It has been designed specifically around the needs of our customers.  Shaftesbury Court provides residential care and support for adults aged 18 to 65, who have a range of learning disabilities and physical disabilities.

We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. The role of Senior Care and Support Assistant will include:

  • Leading a team of Project Workers
  • Working closely with staff to provide personal care and support to customers, and encourage them to enhance their independence and personal potential
  • Safe handling of medication
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers
  • Promoting safe practices and undertaking risk assessments as appropriate
  • Managing and implementing safeguarding principles to ensure the safety of our customers

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience supervising a team
  • Personalised approach to care and support, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form positive relationships with people from varied backgrounds
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults, people with mental health needs, is essential
  • Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong “can-do” attitude
  • Strong organisational skills as well as functional literacy and numeracy
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and best practice
  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
