POSITION TITLE: Staff Scientist
POSITION SUMMARY:
Will participate in a multi-institution consortium that will use computational methods to identify drug repurposing candidates. This position will focus on the creation of biomedical knowledge graphs, and the mining of those knowledge graphs using graph reasoning algorithms.
PREFERRED SKILLSET:
- Constructing and/or mining biomedical knowledge graphs
- Applying machine learning algorithms to biological data
- Evaluating algorithm performance by creating or adapting rigorous benchmarks
- Familiarity with drug discovery and/or drug repurposing
- Working in large collaborative teams
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in an bioinformatics or in an appropriate scientific discipline as well as a minimum of 2 years postdoctoral or equivalent experience in cleaning, analyzing, and disseminating large biomedical datasets.
- Experience using data science techniques to generate new testable hypotheses.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position works in an office environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
LOCATION: La Jolla, California
Compensation: The expected hiring range for this position is $78,000 to $90,272 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
