Peraton has an exciting and important opportunity for an experienced Remote Modern Java Software Developer / Full Stack. Our Services for Product Engineering and Enterprise Delivery (SPEED) team provides US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) with Development, Security & Operations (DevSecOps) teams focused on supporting the USCIS goal to improve and achieve efficiencies in the immigration process by assisting in developing and maintaining applications that support fully electronic case management processing. These improvements increase the efficiency and thoroughness of immigration assessments for eligibility, while better detecting and disrupting fraud or national security risks. As a full-stack Applications Developer with Peraton supporting SPEED you will design, develop, enhance, and implement software solution for the SPEED program. Our developers work with web, back-end, and database interfaces to ensure an integrated solution.
Responsibilities:
- Performs as part of an agile team, utilizing Kanban and Scrum best practices, collaborating with other team members.
- Analyzes user needs, develops user stories and decomposes to software solutions.
- Designs, develops, enhances, debugs, and implements software, including new software products or major enhancements to existing software.
- Conducts trial runs of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.
- Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.
- Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools.
- Troubleshoots production problems with software and provides analysis to enhance the applications and architecture.
- Addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
- Performs or directs revisions, repairs, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
- Acts as mentor and coach to mid-level developers.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- BS Degree and 5 years’ experience or MS degree with 3 years’ experience or a High School Diploma/equivalent with minimum 9 years’ experience.
- U.S. Citizenship required; must have the ability to obtain/maintain an USCIS Public Trust clearance.
- Experience in full-stack development, with modern Java, Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, and AWS Cloud as core competencies.
- Experience with microservices.
- Experience with modernization of IT systems or programs, including cloud migration.
- Expertise with object-oriented programming concepts.
- Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipeline technologies.
- Ability to clearly explain technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS certification(s).
- Experience with database design and development, specifically Oracle and SQL.
- Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD technologies.
- Implementation of PaaS and CaaS platforms.
- Virtualization/Containerization working experience.
- Experience with the following:
- HTML 5
- Bootstrap
- Spring Framework
- Linux
- Docker
- Kafka
- Camunda
- Jenkins Scripts
- AWS EKS
- GitHub, JIRA experience.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and/or scrum master role.
- Experience in Model – View – Presenter or Model – View – Controller design patterns.

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
