The newly created position of Certification and Compliance Engineer is a pivotal role within our Innovation organization, supporting new product development as well as existing products which are manufactured globally for global customers. Our products range in complexity from simple hydraulic hoses and cylinders to highly complex heavy duty speciality tools for bolting, lifting, moving and dismantling in many different industries and applications.
The successful candidate will be part of the Operations Optimization and Compliance function, and will work closely with colleagues in the Legal department as well as Innovation and Engineering.
This role can be based in Cramlington, UK or in Madrid, Spain. Enerpac has engineering and manufacturing sites in the USA, Spain, Netherlands and China so there may be opportunities for travel from time to time.
Business Contribution:
- Plan, develop, and implement a company's technical compliance capabilities according to local, national, and international standards and regulations. Achieves product and engineering compliance by developing and executing compliance programs and completing documentation. Prevents compliance issues by collaborating with engineering planning and design teams, reviewing design data, and developing compliance policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the certification process for all products including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other Enerpac product types, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary documentation and information for certification submissions.
- Stay current with all relevant rules that impact Enerpac product families and proactively update internal processes to meet evolving standards.
- Conduct thorough reviews of regulatory requirements to ensure products meet all necessary compliance standards.
- Work with Engineering teams to plan and execute testing and validation processes to ensure that products meet established compliance and performance criteria.
- Collaborate with product development teams to identify and address compliance-related issues during the design and development phases.
- Manage and maintain documentation related to testing procedures and outcomes, establish organization and controls and maintain required regulatory technical files.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive certification and compliance reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all certification and compliance activities
- Assist in the creation and review of product documentation to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements
- Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times, both internally and externally.
Essential Capabilities
- Strong knowledge of EU and Americas product compliance standards and regulations including CE, FCC, UL and CB Scheme.
- Extensive experience of taking complex products through CE compliance, with particular focus on the Machinery, Pressure Equipment, and EMC Directives.
- Experience working closely with certification bodies in Europe and USA.
Highly Desirable Capabilities:
- Minimum Bachelors degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering or similar)
- 10+ years of work experience post degree, with several years’ experience as a product design/development engineer before specialising in product compliance.
