Responsibilities
The Air Force and Missile Defense Strategic Systems program area at Draper is seeking a Clearfield, Utah based program manager to work closely with our staff as we increase our contributions to the warfighter, supporting program offices and industry and academic partners at Hill Air Force Base and surrounding area. We are seeking a staff member who excels in fast-paced, dynamic work environments with only top-level guidance and minimal oversight. This position will operate as an integral member of the mission area team and work across the breadth of the Draper enterprise to ensure adequate coordination and collaboration across laboratory functions.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Identify, grow, lead, and manage Warfighter, Sponsor, and partner relationships to identify prospective collaborations and mutually beneficial relationships.
- Operate on point and/or in a supporting role to generate external business pursuit proposals, coordination of those proposals across the Draper enterprise and delivery/submission of proposals to potential external Sponsors.
- Lead capture activities to include proposal efforts.
- Work closely with program and technical team to ensure deep understanding of technical progress, assessment of issues/risks and programmatic status to better enable clear communication to Sponsor and across the internal and external teammates.
- Close and continuing communications and interactions direct with Sponsor(s)
- Participate in team meetings, generate action items, and follow up with team members.
- Produce comprehensive and clear work products for meetings and management reports.
- Evaluate technical and business risks and identification/development of sound risk mitigation strategies.
- Other duties as assigned in support of business objectives.
- On-site presence in Clearfield, Utah or surrounding area required to meet assignment objectives, frequent travel to Draper HQ, other Draper facilities, military installations, and partner locations to support business objectives.
- Ability to obtain and retain a Top-Secret security clearance.

The required qualifications of this position include:
- Agile leadership skills, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust priorities to meet need dates
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong ability to develop strong internal and external networks that lead to mutually beneficial outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to quickly identify challenges and implement ways to conquer those challenges in a timely fashion.
- Willingness to operate in uncertain conditions
- Engineering, science, business, or similar degree
- Experience with Air Force warfighters, program offices and/or supporting S&T organizations
- 12+ years professional experience in a high paced organization in one or more of the following domains: strategic and long-range weapons, NC3 and/or C2BMC (including supporting algorithms), assured communications, trusted microelectronics and MEMS devices, conventional and nuclear weapon component/subsystem development and sustainment, highly reliable systems and components, strategic weapon system operations
- Experience in program/project management of technology development, fielding activities and/or integrating new technology into existing, fielded systems
- Program/project management in complex technical activities
- Strong communication skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, structured thinking and execution
- High level of independent judgment and proactivity
- Demonstrated ability to drive on-time program delivery for product that must meet mission requirements
- Experience providing input to or in developing risk management plans, budgets, and schedules, and giving corresponding presentations at program reviews and technical interchange meetings
- Ability to learn and employ modern business collaboration tools
- Experience interacting with and developing trust-based relationships across multiple levels of the organization including with external representatives
- Strong appreciation that it takes a team to solve todays warfighting challenges including acquisition and business-related challenges
- Unquestionable integrity and commitment to mission execution
- Security:
- Required: ability to obtain and retain a security clearance
- Desired: ability to obtain and retain a high-level security clearance and experience operating in commensurate environment
