Our APX team develops and manages Axon’s shared infrastructure. This includes our networking, build processes, customer authentication, UX, and cloud storage systems. We manage one of the world’s largest cloud storage repositories—every day, hundreds of thousands Axon Body and Fleet cameras upload hours and hours of high quality video. We use a lots AWS and Azure.

We support our software development teams, enabling them to deliver innovative and high-performance applications for our customers. Security is our top priority, and we implement best practices for data protection, identity management, and compliance. We pride ourselves on maintaining high availability and disaster recovery solutions, guaranteeing a seamless user experience.

Your Impact

As a Technical Program Manager, you will leverage your leadership skills and expertise to partner with engineering and product management teams to drive projects from inception, through design, development, and deployment. You’ll collaborate with product management and engineering teams to translate initial proposals into executable plans, ensuring that requirements are clear. Once plans are developed, you ensure plans stay on track by leveraging mechanisms that manage scope, risks and ensure healthy execution heartbeat to ensure initiatives to develop new products and features are completed on-time, on-budget, delight our customers and make a measurable social impact.

You’ll also have a outsized force-multiplier impact for our Axon Platform (APX) pillar team. In the APX team we are solving some of the hardest cloud challenges today. We develop the common systems across all Axon pillars, enabling new high-quality products to be deployed quickly at a scale that matches our digital footprint of 100+ petabytes of evidence and other data.

The ideal candidate is an experienced technical program manager who has a proven track record of executing and coordinating complex software deliverables across multiple teams and job roles. Sitting at the middle of product, design, and engineering, you should love to build relationships across a wide variety of personalities, while driving the execution of the product. You leverage your technical expertise and detail-oriented mindset to help the team identify, prioritize, and troubleshoot blockers and manage cross team dependencies.


What You’ll Do

Location: Remote anywhere in the US (although we also have beautiful offices in Seattle, WA and Scottsdale, AZ).
Reports to: Director of Technical Program Management
Direct Reports: None

  • Lead product management, engineering, and design teams to build excellent, data-driven project plans and schedules
  • Coach the team on agile, SDLC and other industry best practices to drive completion all major software deliverables
  • Identify and manage dependencies to help prioritize and parallelize work, while reporting this information up and out to the broader organization.
  • Champion risk management and ensure clear communication of issues
  • Build trust with senior leaders by aligning your priorities with theirs, providing timely, accurate, and succinct status updates, and helping other teams when needed
  • Leading by example with thoroughness, detail, and care for our customers.
  • Work directly with multiple teams of engineers to understand, manage, and propose both technical tradeoffs and execution priorities, and accountability for managing tight execution timelines.
  • You’ll help teams capture and improve detailed process and software architectural documentation as needed.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with our teams in Seattle, Scottsdale, Vietnam and Finland.

 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software/Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or other related field
  • 6+ years professional experience in leading and managing system/software delivery on in enterprise SaaS, cloud IaaS and PaaS offerings such as AWS or Azure, with 4+ years specifically in a technical program management role.
  • High degree of competency and proven success with project management including: Agile Software Development Lifecycle methodology, identifying and managing risks, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communicating overall project status.
  • Experience collaborating and working closely with remote and offshore team members.
  • You are able to learn quickly and cannot only deal with ambiguity, but can effectively partner with others to reduce ambiguity
  • You resonate with Axon's Values and our mission that technology can be applied to tackle public safety's biggest challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, influencing and team building
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

The Pay

Compensation Band Details The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 120,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 231,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
