This position is full time, 10-month position with occasional summer responsibilities, reporting to the Upper School Principal.
Responsibilities:
- Teach four sections of Upper School Spanish ranging from Spanish 1 to advanced level Spanish, and possibly including a section of Grade 8 Spanish.
- Create a positive and safe classroom culture and community.
- Deliver the curriculum through classroom teaching and differentiated instruction.
- Collaborate with a Spanish department that is committed to building language skills and cultural competence.
- Work with the Upper School principal, Upper School team, and the Leadership Team to ensure high quality education and a joyful and engaging high school experience for students.
- Use a variety of assessments, such as student portfolios and project-based learning to measure student learning and drive instruction. Provide feedback on student assignments in a timely and constructive manner.
- Use real-world situations to facilitate language use when speaking, writing, listening, and reading.
- Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Serve as an academic advisor to a group of students.
- Attend all divisional, departmental, and school faculty meetings including professional development days.
- Desire to be actively engaged in learning and ongoing professional growth.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (Master’s preferred).
- Fluency in Spanish and teaching experience.
- Strong desire to teach high school aged students and to be part of a dedicated high school faculty.

- Collaborative by nature, and an effective communicator with students, teachers, administrators, and families.
