Job Description
The Investment Banking Associate is an intermediate level position with specific responsibility for origination of Sovereign, Supranational and Agency (SSA) Debt Capital Markets (DCM) transactions. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of DCM services to Citi’s SSA clients. The role reports into the Head of Global SSA DCM.
Responsibilities:
• Assist day-to-day origination and execution of SSA DCM transactions
• Prepare presentation materials, including market updates, pricing updates and pitch materials
• Contribute to building Citi’s franchise by building and maintain client relationships
• Partner with internal and external parties on transactions, including legal, sales, other banks and compliance
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's... reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Qualifications:
• Previous experience required
• Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
• Good judgement, maturity and poise to enable interaction at all levels
• Ability to foster and build relationships
• Thoughtful analytical skills; able to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions
• Ability to quickly adapt and re-adjust under high pressure and challenging situations
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
• Energetic, self-motivated and effective under pressure – must enjoy the challenge of working within a fast-paced and demanding work environment
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Candidates applying for this role must be aware that it is a Certified Role, subject to the FCA and PRA Certification Regime.
• The Certification Regime is one element of the Individual Accountability Regime which came into effect on 7 March 2016.
• Under the Certification Regime, Citi UK regulated entities (Citi entities) must ensure that employees working in certain roles categorised as specified significant harm functions (Certified Roles) are assessed as fit and proper to carry out their role.
• Under the guidance provided by the FCA and PRA, firms should have regard to the following when assessing fitness and propriety:
• Honesty, integrity and reputation
• Financial soundness
• Competence and capability
• In order to comply with the requirements of the Certification Regime, Citi entities must take reasonable care to ensure that an employee does not perform a Certified Role without first being certified as Fit and Proper. For this reason, you will be assessed for this role against the Fit and Proper requirements, as described above.
• This assessment will be carried out through extensive interviews, self-disclosures, permitted criminal record checks, regulated reference checks, credit checks and other background screening checks.”
