About the role
DS Smith Mercia is a new operation on site at our customer’s premises, where we are implementing a leading packaging service at our Customer’s new Global Parts Distribution centre. We will have onsite production equipment, warehousing area, and an order picking cell to deliver our customers daily packaging requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to join DS Smith as we redefine packaging for a changing world.
Reporting into the Shift Manager, key responsibilities will include:
- To be accountable for own and others health and safety whilst at work, operating in line with SSOW (safe systems of work) and company procedures to enable a safe working environment.
- To be responsible for operating the CAD table or assisting with manual operations – machine feeding, take-off, assisting set ups, order picking, housekeeping, etc.
- To be responsible for driving MHE – Counter balance, reach truck, ride on pallet trucks.
- Achieve set productivity and performance targets ensuring consistent quality standards are met.
- Helping to drive continuous improvement activities.
- Performing quality checks on inbound materials and checking that picked items are 100% accurate.
Working hours are Monday to Friday on a weekly rotation.
Shift Pattern: 6am – 2:30pm / 2:30pm – 11pm.
About you
- Experience working in a warehouse/production environment
- Able to work in a fast paced environment and to meet deadlines with accuracy
- Forklift/Counterbalance Truck Licence
- Competent at dealing with problems and queries
- Ability to work well independently and with your team
- Able to learn and follow ERP and Warehouse Management systems
