We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer, operating at or working towards a Senior level, to join our M+E and NetZero team. Working within the Nottingham Building Surveying business unit, you’ll help us to consolidate and grow our Building Services Engineering offering in Nottinghamshire and across surrounding regions.

Energy and Carbon are an essential aspect of this position and with the rise in importance of decarbonising the built environment, improving air quality and implementing energy efficient design solutions, our team is expanding to deliver sustainable solutions for our growing portfolio of satisfied clients.

The individual will work closely with the Managing M+E Engineer and wider team to support the offering of M&E design and surveying services.

You will be able to demonstrate experience of working within consultancy teams and MUST possess demonstrable skills in the following areas:

  • Ability to produce Building Services related Mechanical design information, in the form of design calculations, drawings and specifications, whilst demonstrating sound working knowledge and a methodical approach.
  • Good organisation and time management skills, with ability to prioritise workload in accordance with project milestones.
  • Ability to analyse and consider all relevant information including wider design team information and project milestones, constraints, and budgets.
  • Awareness and diligence in carrying out site surveys.
  • Confidence and acumen to represent M+E department at client/design team meetings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification of HNC in relevant Building Services Engineering subject.
  • CIBSE/IET Membership is preferable, with desire and motivation to progress professional accreditation. 
  • Experience of using industry standard software, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Hevacomp/IES, to produce drawings and design calculations.
  • The ability to demonstrate a highly motivated, pro-active approach to work matters.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare design calculations utilising both industry standard software and spreadsheets.
  • Produce tender documentation to include drawings, specifications, risk assessments and pricing schedules.
  • Carry out site surveys and complete feasibility reports and budget costs.
  • Represent M+E department at client/design team meetings, answering queries and recording minutes.
  • Understand and work in accordance with regulations, standards, and guidance, including Building Regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance.
  • Maintain service quality standards and a culture of continuous improvement and constructive expertise.
  • Participate in relevant internal/external training initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of industry issues and developments in best practice, in particular focussing on Net Zero initiatives and low carbon technologies.
  • Communicate and interact with others coherently, in accordance with the organisation's values.
