Position: Technical Support Engineer
Location: San Jose, CA; may telecommute from any continental U.S. location
Duties: Draw on experience with object-oriented programming (Java, C++, C#), Mainframe, Unix/Linux, Windows or Open VMS, utilities like packet sniffers, analyzing, stack traces and core dumps to conduct analysis and research of moderately complex technical customer problems and provide timely resolution. Provide technical support related to the design, installation, operation and functionality of assigned complex system level software products. Duties include moderate scope problem prioritization, analysis, troubleshoot and devise resolution for issues requiring a review of identifiable factors. Analyze Software AG product logs, if applicable to the product line, and related information such as Java thread dump, heap dump, network log & garbage collection logs to provide root cause analysis and solutions for issues related to system memory management, clustering, SMTP, TCP/IP, SNMP, HTTP and HTTPs. Execute Unit-Test fixes and when essential, regression test, bug fixes to ensure regression-free solution and production functioning per specifications.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a relevant technology-centered field, and 1 year of experience reflecting demonstrable ability in object-oriented programming (Java, C++, C#), Mainframe, Unix/Linux, Windows or Open VMS, utilities like packet sniffers, analyzing, stack traces and core dumps; alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a relevant technology-centered field.
Salary Range: $133,245/year to $135,000/year
