Job Description
The Product Strategy & Development, Public Markets team is a sub-team of Product, responsible for all aspects of product strategy and development LGIM’s funds and products. Their purpose is to design, deliver and management a client-centric offering, enable achievement of LGIM’s overall commercial strategy, and to ensure LGIM’s product activity is in line with regulatory standards and LGIM’s Product Process.
The role holder will be responsible for supporting the product development and management strategy, as well as supporting implementation of new funds, fund amendments or registrations, to support LGIM’s growth ambitions across different asset classes. The role holder will be a senior technical expert managing the development and design of market leading, competitively differentiated and compliant products and propositions across LGIM's range of funds and vehicles.
- Product design and delivery. With limited oversight, manage the design and delivery of product initiatives to agreed timescales and budgets such that the needs and expectations of customer groups are met, they comply with regulations, mitigate any potential operational and legal risk exposure of the business, and align with corporate strategy. Keep key stakeholders aware of progress and highlighting matters for resolution as appropriate. Ensure the Product Process Manual and Product Lifecycle Management process are followed, and project management tool kit deployed.
- Project management. Scope and design product launches, using effective project management tools to identify and document key milestones and deliverables, capture actions and issues, run working groups and testing. Identify all risks that may impact successful delivery and manage or mitigate them, escalating as required. Coordinate SMEs across the business to ensure active engagement on projects or identify where resourcing is required.
- Product governance and compliance. Ensure ongoing use and compliance with Product policies and procedures. Ensure personal adherence to compliance, governance and risk policies and frameworks such that Product activities are carried out consistently with business ethics, values and stakeholder requirements at defined levels of risk. Ensure an ongoing awareness of regulatory-required product governance rules and how they apply to the activities being undertaken.
- Product reviews. Adhere to the processes in place to regularly assess management and delivery of product risk, fund and thematic reviews. Use existing arrangements, whilst also identifying and implementing process improvements, to review on an ongoing basis the benefits realisation of regulated funds following their launch including continued meeting of customer needs. Identify opportunities for fund enhancements or where funds should be closed or merged and plan for this activity. Ensure these are completed in line with the Product Process Manual and with due regard to Product Lifecycle Management.
- Product technical support. As a fund domicile / vehicle / platform / asset class or change owner, direct and deliver product technical support on matters such as regulation, tax, customer channels, registrations, disclosures and operational items on both an on-going and project basis to manage existing products to meet the needs of customers.
- Operational engagement. Ensure all relevant operational areas are both involved in decision making processes around new product launches and informed in advance of new initiatives. Coordinate operational teams as part of scoping, delivery and implementation, and ensure effective engagement with key service providers supporting the product activity. Escalate resourcing challenges, lack of engagement or skills / knowledge gaps to the relevant Product sub-team head. Participate in operational forums.
- Competitors and industry. Review analysis of customer, industry and regulatory activity to assess where strategic new fund launches or strategic fund changes are required to inform proposition design and deliver enhancements, developments and changes to the product offering.
- Relationship building. Develop close working relationships with key stakeholders of counterparts throughout the business to resolve barriers to the successful achievement of agreed projects. Build strong relationships with key contacts at service providers.
- Regulatory and product knowledge. Acquire, maintain and share a broad knowledge of the products and product structures and the application of regulatory guidelines to product governance arrangements, keeping abreast of changes and developments and being able to discuss these in an informed manner.
- Consumer Duty accountabilities. Design and develop products / propositions that meet the needs, characteristics, and objectives of customers in an identified target market. Where relevant, undertake appropriate customer research and product testing to provide assurance that the product / proposition will perform as expected to meet the needs, characteristics, and objectives of customers in the target market.
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree qualified or equivalent require
- Strong knowledge of the international asset management industry with experience launching and managing funds across different jurisdictions
- A strong understanding of regulation and strong technical knowledge of pooled product structures (including UCITS and non-UCITS) across a range of domiciles and jurisdictions
- Experience in product strategy, development and management
- Previous experience in launching, registering, operating and amending pooled investment funds across different jurisdictions
- Demonstrates high attention to detail and seeks continual improvement and efficiency in delivery of processes
- Product life cycle management
- Experience in stakeholder engagement; ability to influence and engage across key stakeholders
- Experience in project management
Desirable
- Professional qualifications in relation to the role such as IMC, CFA, CAIA or similar highly desirable
- PRINCE2, Agile or another project management accreditation desirable
