Job Description
We have an exciting new opportunity for an Enterprise Architect who will work closely with stakeholders, business representatives and subject matter experts to plan technology systems and solutions that are aligned with L&Gs business strategy. The role holder will contribute to the enterprise wide controls and reporting that enable effective technology governance. The ideal candidate will ensure that Legal and General make technology decisions that deliver value of investment and manage exposure to risk.
What you'll be doing
- Enterprise Architecture: Developing and communicating the Enterprise Architecture roadmap, aligning our Vision with the business strategy. Managing Divisional IT roadmaps, investment and implementation plans and ensuring that the IT architecture is appropriate.
- Technology Trends and Supplier: Conducting analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise architecture and opportunities that influence the Vision and Strategy. Working with suppliers to understand their future vision and strategy. Building supplier partnerships to gain the best outcome for the enterprise.
- Technology Governance: Managing and enhancing technology governance capabilities which ensure Legal and General technologies align to strategies, maximise the value of investment and limit exposure to risk. Bringing group wide direction and guidance to all aspects of architecture.
- Technology Selection: Leading the analysis of strategic technology solution options to identify associated costs, risks and conduct gap analysis, and proof of concepts for new solutions, to establish compatibility to Legal and General requirements.
- Architecture Artefacts: Defining and ensuring the delivery of high-quality architectural artefacts which clearly explain the enterprise architecture and how this is governed.
- Stakeholders: Responsible for identifying and maintaining regular written and in-person communications with key stakeholders. Able to adapt styles when needed to achieve required interaction and investment from others. Comfortable communicating effectively across technical topics with non-technical audiences.
- Collaboration: Collaborating across disciplines within Divisions and across the whole of L&G to align architecture principles, processes, frameworks, and communities that reduce risk and deliver shareholder value.
- Treating Customers Fairly – Ensuring that the appropriate MI, process and systems are in place to provide support to other business areas so that customers are treated fairly, in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy (TCF).
Qualifications
- TOGAF or similar certification is desirable. A related degree is desirable or demonstrable equivalent experience - ITIL certification would be an advantage
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture and IT roadmap design.
- Knowledge and experience of IT governance and industry standards
- Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, budgeting and risk management
- Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, API, open data, micro services, event driven IT and predictive analytics and business intelligence/analytics.
- Exposure and understanding of existing and emerging new technologies.
- The regulatory environment, including FCA, PRA is desirable
- Experienced IT architect or IT professional
- Strategic thinking, taking a broader picture view of situations.
- Knowledge of architecture governance through the use of enterprise architecture artefacts including principles, policies, views, viewpoints and building blocks
- Ability to develop, and project a positive image of the IT function and company through interpersonal, written and verbal communications to a wide range of audiences. .
- Proven practical approach in supporting the business achieved business vision and targeted outcomes through IT solutions and innovation.
- Experience of developing IT Roadmaps
- Excellent stakeholder management skills. Building engagement with stakeholders, landing difficult messages and selling the architectural vision
- Practical, common sense approach to delivering successful, collaborative outcomes
- Thought leader on Enterprise Architecture, able to paint a compelling image of the future IT capability and its desirability
