Legal and General Investment Management is looking to hire a Data Governance Manager into a growing team to support in the embedding and deploying of a Data Governance framework across the 1st and 2nd line teams in LGIM.
This role will see you implement the company data policy, standards and controls and support change, IT, risk, compliance, and the wider business with the adoption of the new data policy.
What you’ll be doing:
Implementation of the Data Governance Framework
• Deploying the Data Governance Framework working closely with 1st Line, 2nd line, data teams, IT teams, change transformation projects and the business to ensure it is successful
• Developing standards, policies, and procedures to support the implementation of the data governance framework
• Maintaining ownership, data standards (data definitions), authorised sources and data quality metrics
• Establishing the necessary forums to support the ongoing implementation of the Data Governance Framework.
Supporting Data Risk Assessments
• Supporting the LGIM data risk assessment process
• Supporting business teams to assess their use of data and ensure the right level of controls are applied for the consistency and integrity of data to meet business need and mitigate data risks
• Maintaining data risks in the risk registers and escalate where needed.
Supporting Data Audit
• Maintaining a collaborative relationship with Audit (3rd line of defence) and ensure data related Audit Actions are completed to agreed timescales.
Supporting Data Priorities from a Data Governance perspective
• Providing Data Governance expertise to strategic data initiatives and support appropriate deployment of data controls to mitigate data risks.
• Proposing improvements to the Data Management Policy
• Educating the business around data governance
• A detailed understanding of data governance and controls required to mitigate.
• Experience of writing data governance related standards, guidance and processes.
• Excellent understanding and practical experience of implementing data governance and data risk across multiple stakeholders and roles.
• A demonstrated collaborative approach to working with data operational teams, developers, architects, and subject matter experts alike, to establish the facts, and ensure good communication of requirements
• Excellent communication skills to articulate data and the associated benefits to a non-expert audience.
• Relationship and stakeholder management with experience of working professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders, managers, and subject matter experts, building positive and productive relationships
• Experience of working in an Agile environment with agile development capabilities and toolsets - Jira and Confluence
• An understanding of Data Engineering and Data Ops concepts, processes and toolsets is desirable
• Skills in data analysis (understanding macros, scripts, queries to profile data and determine its data quality) is desirable
• Exposure to and confidence in cloud computing concepts and data use cases is desirable
