The Director, Manufacturing Integrator is a critical member of the Diagnostic Solutions (DS), Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) extended leadership team and the DS Operations team. Reporting to the VP Integrated Supply Chain, DS the Director Manufacturing Integrator plays a key role in the development and execution of manufacturing strategy for the Diagnostic Systems business and works closely with the platform peers in BD Excellence, Cost to Win, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Finance, HR, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Commercial organizations.
PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:
• Understand business requirements (financial, service level, new product, etc.).
• Implement the business and manufacturing strategy (capacity, productivity, technology enhancements, new product/process launch, continuous improvement, etc.)
• Provide direction and leadership to execute key business operational imperatives.
• Coordinate activities by interfacing with the leadership in BD manufacturing facilities, IDS product platform leaders, senior management in the IDS organization, various BD functional leaders, and external suppliers/vendors.
• Engage and gains the support of associates in various positions of responsibility and in various functions within BD worldwide. The Manufacturing Integrator will clearly communicate project plans and resource requirements to gain the support of these individuals.
• Provide direction on a wide variety of processes including molding, assembly and inspection methods, packaging, and sterilization of which any combination must meet the integrated requirements of medical use, chemical/biological compatibility, manufacturability, and acceptable cost.
• Interface with external vendors/suppliers as processes are developed and capital equipment is purchased. Will understand the overall business strategy and be able to structure and implement an operations strategy to support this business strategy.
• Plans, coordinates and keeps contents of meetings or workshops highly focused.
• Influence decisions that affect strategic positioning of businesses and functions.
• Some duties will require the Manufacturing Integrator to personally execute specific programs which are key to the overall operations and/or manufacturing strategy for IDS.
• Support and advance BD’s Inclusion and Diversity & Equality agenda, including talent attraction, development, and retention.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Personal effectiveness and ability to influence others.
• Strong communications skills.
• Knowledge of the interrelationship between Manufacturing Operations and Finance, Quality, Regulatory, and Supply Chain. Experience working with these functions to achieve objectives.
• Knowledge of GMP requirements, Lean/Six Sigma, Validation. Experience with/certification in Lean/Six Sigma and Validation preferred.
• The position will require up to 20% travel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Requires a B.S. Degree; MBA is preferred
• 8-10 years in Project Management or Operations Leadership
• 5+ years in Operations Management
• Experience in process development or manufacture of medical/ life science sterile devices is preferable
• Experience working with equipment suppliers
• Experience working with all levels of manufacturing plant personnel
• Experience in successful execution of change management
