PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Processes the administrative and physical tasks involved in shipping, receiving, using a fork lift or other equipment to move, load and unload materials, checking, rejecting, storing, staging and supplying materials (raw, work-in-process and finished goods), parts and supplies, to operators, workstations and distribution center.
Includes SAP transactions as required with these tasks.
When shipping, Associate ensures orders containing Dangerous Goods (DG) declarations are processed in accordance with transportation by-laws.
Handle hazardous waste as appropriate.
Works closely with site Planners, Buyers, Quality and Manufacturing to ensure material is staged properly to facilitate quick, accurate changeovers.
May reconcile materials after production order runs so that inventory returned to the warehouse is accurate and for count and location in SAP.
May work with transportation providers to facilitate the unloading/loading of materials to and from trucks(s) and physically inspects shipments for damage and accuracy of “piece” count per procedures. Ensures products are properly labeled and inspected as indicated by BD processes.
Complete all SAP Training to obtain the necessary profiles for shipping, receiving, material management and inventory management. (Examples: goods receipts, bin to bin transfers, PSA maintenance, STO processing, etc).
Responsible for conducting cycle counts to maintain accurate inventories, including bin management for warehouse PSA’s.
Maintains accurate and traceable records and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Follow all BD Company and departmental procedures including FDA and ISO regulations, OSHA requirements, Safety, and DG regulations:
Oversee record retention policy of warehouse documents.
Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements.
Participates in site Lean culture events and Safety teams as required.
Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the department.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
May use company vehicle as needed to pick up or deliver materials to local companies.
Work a flexible schedule when the need arises.
Frequent use of forklift, shrink wrapping machine, pallet jacks, company vehicles, and operation of other mechanical equipment.
Performs various clerical duties in order to complete assigned tasks (i.e. faxing, copying, typing, filing) and other duties to meet the departmental goals.
Maintains a clean work area and follows all safety procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School diploma/GED
Valid Driver’s License
Must have 1 year of previous work experience with the use of material handling equipment (pallet jack, forklift, and/or shrink wrapper)
Must have previous work experience in a GMP, FDA, ISO or similarly regulated environment.
Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds, on a regular basis.
Certification in Dangerous Goods (DG), including IATA, DOT DG, or IMDG; or complete training course within one year of hire date.
Basic computer knowledge with Microsoft (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Basic math skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Training and experience in transportation and logistics including experience with logistics/shipping software (i.e. FedEx, UPS).
SAP experience or other Inventory Management System
1-2 years experience in a warehouse (shipping and/or receiving) environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (such as Word and Internet Explorer)
1+ years experience with Microsoft Windows (Excel, Outlook and Word)
Legible handwriting and accuracy.
