The Team:

S&P Global Commodity Insights is seeking an experienced reporter to cover the fast-changing renewable energy sector.  

 
The successful candidate will skillfully balance beat reporting and enterprise features with a focus on renewable energy finance, wind-energy supply chains, ESG trends and other developments that impact the energy transition. The position will also cover policymakers and policies that affect these markets.

Responsibilities and Impact:

Your focus on the energy transition and the businesses that enable it will produce critical insights on many of the defining questions of the decades ahead. Your thought-provoking news and analysis will be distributed across major S&P Global platforms including Capital IQ Pro, Platts Connect and Connect by S&P Global.

Responsibilities:

  • Write clear, concise, and engaging stories that inform and educate our readers. 

  • Develop and use data, analysis and visuals to support your reporting and make your stories more impactful. 

  • Expand our energy news coverage and build readership throughout the industry. 

  • Help drive our coverage strategy for the renewable energy sector. 

  • Cover hearings, speeches and conferences.  

  • Interview executives, policymakers and other key stakeholders.  

Core responsibilities:

  • Cover the financial performance of large wind turbine manufactures and developers.  

  • Follow the deployment of offshore wind in the United States.  

  • Coverage of US utility developments.   

  • Relevant data analyses, including two quarterly analyses on wind projects.  

  • Shared duties related to “Renewable Energy Week” .

Compensation/Benefits Information:

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $49,400 to $98,200. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of professional journalism experience. 

  • Strong writing and reporting skills, along with excellent news judgement. 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute story ideas. 
     

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of renewable energy markets and financials. 

  • Knowledge of international renewable energy developments and trends. 

  • Demonstrated analytical and data visualization experience. 

  • Experience participating in panels, podcasts and other media.
