Quality Control Technician at Prysmian Group

Job Descrption

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  Other duties may be assigned at the sole discretion of the employee’s Supervisor.

  • Oversee the company QHSE activities, and providing support and feedback to team members, working with the Departments to ensure key deliverables are met.
  • Perform incident investigations when required.
  • Assist with the resolution of customer returns, non-conformances, root cause analysis and 8D reports.
  • Assist with quarterly safety team meetings.
  • Communicate and enforce safety requirements and procedures.  Assist with OSHA compliance, safety training, incident investigations, help to eliminate unsafe conditions, and maintain records.
  • Assist with fire drills as needed.
  • Assist with the maintenance of QC related documents (certificates of conformance, certified test reports, installation instructions, material safety data sheets and drawings) ensuring these are received from the vendor, stored electronically and copies are filed when needed.
  • Assist with the management of non-conformances as per the processes outlined in company’s QMS.  Coordinate non-conformance memos with logistics, production and purchasing.
  • Manage returns through enforcement of company’s return policy.  Enter quality notifications in SAP, ensure material is received and reconciled in a timely manner.  Coordinate vendor returns with purchasing.
  • Assist as needed with monthly reports concerning safety, returns and non-conformances.
  • Perform inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to defined criteria using standard measurements.
  • Rework or reject subassemblies or finished products as required.
  • Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing.
  • Assist with the maintenance of all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate calibration of all test equipment and fixtures if needed.
  • Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
  • Participate in the construction and/or revision of WI(s) for the inspection and test function.
  • Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures, work instructions and checklists.
  • Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervisor.
  • Work with Plant Manager and Quality Manager to improve assembly efficiency.
  • Carry out proper tests and controls aimed at verifying product conformity, starting from incoming inspection on raw materials to final test on finished goods
  • Assist with the management of Safety Supplies.

Education Required: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Specialization in Quality processes and manufacturing is required.

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.

  • Work is performed under the overall supervision of the Quality Manager.  Works independently within authority limits and experience level.  Incumbent must establish priorities and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.
  • Requires the ability to comprehend and evaluate facts and arrive at a decision consistent with company standards and procedures.  Must be thorough and accurate in making selections, determining product specifications, and monitoring current performance.  Decisions are required as to which procedures are applicable to a given situation and how best to obtain results consistent with company practice.

Substantial financial loss could occur if work specifications are incorrect which would lead to inefficient use of company capital resulting in expenditures to fix poor quality product to customers.  Their technical responsibilities and support of our business is key to ongoing success and profitability.
