Job Description
This is an opportunity to work as part of cross-functional team to deliver product designs that meet customer and project requirements in close conjunction with Mechanical and CAD Engineering and collaborate with Project Management, Sourcing, Manufacturing and Quality teams.
In this role you will focus on:
Specification, design and engineering of large electrical machines.
Performing detailed mathematical analysis of machines and their performance.
Designing tests for the machines to review and improve performance.
Investigating new materials and methods to improve the competitiveness of the machines.
Working closely with customers at their sites around the world to provide the solutions they require.
Support of service team projects including the recommendation of required overhaul activities.
Creation and submission of required design data to attain machine certification for use in hazardous environments.
We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:
A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical design engineering environment.
Solid knowledge of electrical machine designing backed by hands-on experience.
Technical background and proven experience in the field of electromagnetic design of Synchronous, Induction and Permanent Magnet Machines, including calculations for the sizing of the machine
Experience on Electromagnetic Finite Element Analysis for Machine Design on commercially available FE packages such as ANSYS Classic, ANSYS MAXWELL, CEDRAT FLUX, INFOLYTICA MAGNET, OPERA VECTORFIELDS, etc.
Familiarity with a variety of Industry Standards, i.e. IEC, IEEE, NEMA, API, MIL-STD.
Experience with large rotating machine prototyping, testing, and manufacturing processes.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
