Intern - UX Designer

Job Description

As a Hybrid Experience Design Intern on the Philips Sleep and Respiratory Care Experience Design team, you'll collaborate with skilled designers and cross-functional teams to enhance our end-users and customers' products and solutions through your unique ability to blend data science and UX. 

You will be crucial in developing new ideas for using data science to improve user experience, contributing to safe, intuitive, and delightful user experiences that support our business objectives and strategic agenda. 

You are responsible for:

• Product concept: create frameworks and interaction concepts across domains and competencies. Define role of product within broader ecosystem. Establish design principles, experience requirements and guide teams with clarity and accuracy. When relevant, conduct and lead analysis of user needs and requirements.
• Experiments and innovation: Work closely with Engineering, Design, Product Management and Clinical teams to integrate user-centered design principles and data science insights into early product development to implement creative and innovative medical device solutions to improve patient care and advance the field of Sleep & Respiratory care science.
• Compliance and Documentation: Work with the team to ensure all designs and models comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining thorough documentation of processes and results.
• Data Visualization: Creating concepts, prototypes and demos that together create a great experience that aligns with the Philips brand and design language. Use appropriate skills (sketching, prototyping and specification) to create clear data visualizations that help both the design team and business stakeholders understand complex datasets and model outputs.
• Technical demonstration: Identification of opportunities and constraints inherent in technology and platform decisions and ability to highlight the impact of technology choices on user experience and product quality.
• Performance Metrics: Work with the team to define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of experience designs and ML implementations within the product environment.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

• You are working toward BS/MS/PhD degree in Human Centered Design and Engineering.
• You are passionate about innovation, design, user experience and sustainability.
• You have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities matched with Excellent communication, visualization and documentation skills.
• You can work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
• You have an affection for healthcare and personal health.
• Experience in user testing and validation preferred. 
• Experience in design of study protocols and data analysis preferred.

Philips Transparency Details

Internship will be paid based upon scale below:

 $23 – 36 an hour

The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
