Investment Risk Specialist – Salary circa £60,000

A bit about the job:
This is a 2nd line role taking a position supporting the Risk challenge to the 1st line management of these risks, reporting to a Senior Manager Investment Risk Oversight
Our team manages the credit risk appetite and limit methodology of the IWR (Insurance, Wealth & Retirement) Credit Risk Framework Management. This includes helping design the controls around a £70 billion credit risk book of assets, determining concentration limits and credit risk appetite.
The team also fulfils the second line oversight of the investment, credit and liquidity risk management of all of Aviva’s Life insurance activity with a particular focus on the growing Annuity market. In addition, the team oversights IWR’s approach and progress in achieving its climate and sustainability ambitions.
You’ll be reviewing and challenging IWR’s management of exposure to credit and investment risk, including their approach to risk identification and measuring risk impacts. You’ll be helping to ensure that first line is managing these risks in accordance with stated policies and Board approved risk appetite measures.
Your role is to help support the provision of Risk’s independent opinion of the risk exposures, investment decisions and strategy, helping to advise the business on how best to manage and mitigate these exposures and ensure that out-sourced fund managers are managing investment risk effectively and with best practice.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
An understanding of the workings of the financial markets and some experience of corporate credit risk management.
Highly numerate and analytical with a developed capability to interpret data and establish alternatives and solutions to complex problems
General knowledge of insurance company products, organisation and structures and an ability to contribute in a fluid and matrix style team structure
A knowledge of statutory, legal and regulatory frameworks, risk management and corporate governance
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and an energy, drive and a ‘can do’ attitude

Salary circa £60k (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
