Lead Data Engineer
Salary: Circa £100,000
This is a great role for someone with a passion for technology and are interested in enhancing your tech abilities? We are currently recruiting for a Lead Data Engineer to join our Aviva Zero team.
Aviva Zero is a greenfield Personal Lines insurer headquartered in London, set with the ambition to be the best in the UK market. It will combine the pace, focus, and test and learn mentality of a start-up with the expertise, and financial backing of Aviva.
A bit about the job:
As the Lead data Engineer, you are responsible for:
- Leading, developing, and providing oversight of a team with responsibility to develop, construct, test and maintain user-friendly data architectures and to design innovative new solutions to enable leading edge data science, whilst driving effective data governance.
- Support the delivery of good customer outcomes through all activities and deliverables, enabling us to act in good faith towards customers, avoid causing foreseeable harm and enable and support our customers to pursue their financial objectives.
- Manage a team of direct reports, driving high performance and ensuring activities are carried out efficiently and to a high standard, whilst delivering performance management, technical development, and coaching.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- A strong background delivering a service to data consumers.
- Proven ability to Collaborate with IT architects to design and lead the implementation of new data solutions.
- Able to demonstrate managing a team of direct reports committed to driving adherence to data governance within the team and resolving escalated technical queries within a team.
- Extensive experience with Snowflake is essential and working knowledge of dbt, Airflow and AWS is highly desirable.
- Extensive stakeholders’ management experience ideally in area of responsibility, with IT and architects and with external suppliers.

- Salary: Circa £100,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
