EIA is the sole custodian of the wealth of the federal government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Authority owns stakes in UAE-based companies and manages a globally diversified fund. Its mandate is to protect and grow the wealth of the federal government of the UAE.
The incumbent facilitates and helps further EIA’s investments in a number of assigned Private Equity asset classes through fund managers, with an accountability to drive performance outcomes. This position includes responsibilities for the full investment cycle covering fund manager sourcing / investment opportunity generating / fund screening, due diligence and structuring. It also involves the analysis and recommendation to relevant Committees including Pre-Screening Committee, Investment Committee and Executive Committee.
Investments – Funds and Co-Investments
Assist in the development and approval of asset class investment strategies
Assist in originating, screening, and performing due diligence on potential fund managers
Create and deliver investment proposal presentations and memorandums to the Pre-Screening Committee, Investment Committee, and Executive Committee
Support the team in achieving investment performance above assigned benchmarks
Monitor and analyze investments in the existing portfolio
Maintain a database of relevant prospective fund managers
Monitor global trends, market, and macro-economic developments affecting the sector and refine strategy recommendations accordingly
Assist in ensuring that primary managers provide necessary co-investment deal flow and promptly refer Co-Investment leads to the Co-Investment desk
Monitoring of Investments and Reporting
Review periodical reports of private equity investment managers.
Monitor accounting and performance calculation for each investment to ensure accurate determination of investment performance.
Collaborate with support function staff to ensure proper accounting for investment performance, identify errors, and assist operations in obtaining all timely information required from internal and external sources, including financial statements, fair value estimates, and capital call information.
Assist in monitoring the allocation of distributions between income return and return of capital.
Requirements
MBA or master's degree is preferred.
Bachelor's degree is required.
Having relevant professional certificates (e.g. CFA) is advantageous.
7-10 years of experience in Private Equity investment, with a focus on Manager Selection
A well-established network of business contacts within the global private equity fund management industry
Demonstrated proficiency in handling transactions from sourcing to execution
Comprehensive knowledge of valuation methods, including the creation of advanced financial models
Fluent in English, with fluency in Arabic being an advantage
