POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) plays a critical role in assisting the SVP of FP&A to manage the coordination, development, presentation, and maintenance of the corporation’s financial position and forward-looking Financial Plan. The AVP will regularly coordinate with senior management to ensure accurate, reliable and timely financial projections. The AVP will also assist with the budgeting of all internally funded corporate projects and processes, guide projects from conception to implementation, navigate internal and external review processes, and help to manage department operating budgets. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, communication skills, organizational prowess, and a robust understanding of corporate finance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish financial projections and monitor and present budget-to-actual variances to senior management
- Prepare analyses and recommendations on the corporation’s budget requests and allocations
- Assist with the supervision and management of the FP&A team
- Participate in process improvements and assist with ad hoc reporting; develop useful financial reporting; update NYCEDC internal systems with budget information and periodically reconcile project budgets as funding needs and sources change; work with the project and other teams in the Finance Division to correct any discrepancies
- Assist senior management in developing funding strategies for NYCEDC initiatives; creating operational budgets funded with corporate resources
- Lead the preparation and maintenance of NYCEDC’s 5- and 10- year Financial Plan
- Review project contracts to determine appropriate funding sources based on the approved Financial Plan
- Develop operating budgets and maintain relevant financial data for NYCEDC affiliated entities
- Coordinate with senior NYCEDC leadership regarding the funding of NYCEDC and Mayoral initiatives, as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics
- At least 3 years of experience in budgetary planning or management, financial analysis, financial modeling and mulit-year projections
- At least 6 years of work experience
- Demonstrated communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation
- Problem solving, especially with innovative and creative solutions
- Demonstrated ability to handle competing priorities and promptly respond to requests for information
- Proven analytical and critical thinking skills; strong quantitative skills and comfort building financial models
- Ability to understand the big picture and be being detail-oriented
- Comfort interfacing with senior officials and management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with Concur payment application and Microsoft Great Plaines (GP), MRI applications, or other general ledger systems is a plus
- New York City residency is required within 180 days of hire
Salary Range$90,000—$93,000 USD
