We are looking for a Senior Packaging Technologist to join our New Product Development and Innovation team. This role will drive packaging innovation for our new products from concept to launch, working closely with our Operations, NPD and Marketing teams.

The Role
Your key responsibilities are:
Lead the development of new packaging innovation and manage the tooling of new packaging across all product categories
Work in conjunction with our Design and Product Innovation teams in the creation of new packaging concepts
Lead the development of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging to support new product launches, promotional items ensuring components can be manufactured on a repeat basis and meet lead time and cost targets
Search new applicable technologies both within and outside our industry in order to continuously evaluate best practice and support product innovation
Champion the corporate efforts to support social and environmental responsibility, specifically through driving sustainable design and materials.
Responsible for building and reconciling packaging tooling budget from concept to approval to delivery
Responsible for managing the development of packaging in line with project CPAs as well as identifying, mitigating & flagging any risks
Responsible for setting pack standards and testing guidelines
Support and contribute the CPA management to ensure finished goods and packaging project CPAs are aligned by working closely with the NPD team
Work closely with our Operations team in the delivery of all packaging projects
Build & maintain strong relationships with our external pack suppliers and contract manufacturers
Build and manage a team of packaging technologists
Requirements
The essential skills and experience required to succeed in this role are:
Degree in Packaging Science or Engineering
Extensive experience in beauty package development, with proven development and project management experience in makeup and skincare categories
Experience leading a packaging development department
Ability to work strategically with cross functional partners to understand unmet consumer needs and efficiently translate those needs into successful, actionable results
Strong analytical skills, proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions
Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written with a high level of creativity and attention to detail
Speed to market and able to work in a fast paced, start-up work environment
Results oriented, excellent ability to utilise and manage the organisation's resources to achieve goals
