Specialist Orthodontics at NMC Healthcare

Job Descrption
  • Practices diagnostic, preventive, remedial orthodontic service for patients of all ages.
  • Works as part of the orthognathic surgical team to correct facial deformities, best treated by this advanced treatment modality involving orthodontics & maxillo-facial surgery.
  • Advises on the occlusion of teeth during treatment of facial fractures.  Studies and recommends changes in the occlusion of patients undergoing periodontal treatment to remove all possible causes of the condition resulting from mechanical interference.
  • Advises the dentist regarding difficulty occlusion problems in the construction of prosthetic appliances.  He participates actively in the treatment of these cases.
  • Serves as a consultant to the pediatric service on problems relating to growth patterns and syndromes in newborn and small children.
  • Serves as a consultant to the surgical service in cleft palate and lip rehabilitation. Participates actively in the treatment of these cases.
  • Records all pertinent data in medical and dental records accurately and promptly, indicating thereon the chief complaint, diagnosis, treatment administered and recommendations for further action. Records periodically in the patient’s chart the progress and problems related to the case.
  • Makes recommendations regarding revision and alterations of orthodontic schedule, and keeps statistical analysis of workloads.
  • Keeps current with new techniques/procedures in the practice of orthodontics, recommends & implements as approved.
  • Responsible for the proper practice of infection control guidelines in all clinical areas.
  • Designs, fabricates or directs the fabrication of intra and extra-oral orthodontic appliances, particularly advanced interceptive and functional appliances.
  • Keeps current with emergency techniques as they emerge and evolve.
  • Active participation and sustained qualification in all cardio-pulmonary resuscitation programs.
  • Attends staff meetings and weekly rounds and participates in in-service activities as required, i.e., Morbidity & Mortality conferences, Peer Reviews, etc.
  • Performs additional duties as designated by the Head of the Department.
  • To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.

  • D.D.S. or D.M.D. from an approved Dental School (American Dental Association approval or equivalent).  2 years post-graduate study in orthodontics to be eligible for the American Board of Orthodontics certification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years practice in orthodontics.
  • Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
  • Current licensure in country of origin and with DOH license to practice orthodontic dentistry in Dubai, UAE.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
