Podiatrist at NMC Healthcare

Job Descrption

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. As a podiatrist you will be responsible for carrying out below mentioned responsibilities:
    • Prescription medications
    • Orthotics
    • Cryotherapy
    • Electro surgery
    • Ultrasonic
    • Specialized dressings
    • Exercise therapies
  2. Assess, diagnose and treat abnormalities and diseases related to the foot and lower limb in people of all ages
  3. Provide treatment for high-risk patient groups such as the elderly and those with increased risk of amputation
  4. Give advice and make referrals as appropriate.
  5. Use therapeutic and surgical techniques to treat foot and lower leg issues (e.g. carrying out nail and soft tissue surgery using local anesthetic).
  6. Prescribe, produce and fit orthotics and other aids and appliances
  7. Deliver foot health education
  8. Understand the mechanics of the body in order to preserve, restore and develop movement
  9. Work with people in sports to address sports-related injuries to legs and feet
  10. Use a range of equipment including surgical instruments, dressings, treatment tables, orthotic (inner sole) materials, lasers, grinders, shaping equipment, x-ray and video gait-analysis equipment (which allows for analysis of patients' walking or running problems)
  11. Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements
  12. Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
  13. Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
  14. Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports
  15. Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
  16. Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
  17. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems

QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL SKILLS:

  1. Podiatrists must earn a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree and complete a 3-year residency program.
  2. Valid DOH License to practice in UAE. 
  3. Min 2 years of experience
