Veritasium is a world-leading physics and science education YouTube channel. We craft high-quality, in depth videos for a curious, engaged audience that never stops asking the big questions.

As the Production Manager of Veritasium you will play a crucial role in ensuring production runs smoothly from ideation through to publication and review. You will be responsible for forward planning, resourcing and ensuring efficient workflows to deliver high quality content on brand, on time and within budget. Resourceful, with an eye for detail you will offer solutions driven support to help drive projects to the finish line, whilst maintaining Vetiasium’s quality standards.

You will have strong project management skills, experience in digital content production and a passion for YouTube and science.

Tasks

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Production Management:

• Oversee the content creation process, from ideation and scripting to filming and post-production, in collaboration with our team of writers, animators and editors.
• Manage the production timelines, ensuring that videos are given sufficient time and accurate deadlines and budgets in tandem with channel output and brand goals.
• Continually review process and workflow, implementing feedback from the team for a cohesive workflow.
• Optimisation of Monday.com boards, including timely updates on main boards and support for writers and team updating project specific boards.
• Production management support for writers including sourcing and booking freelancers, arranging release forms and permits, insurance and risk assessments.
• Manage and track talent time requests.
• Managing incoming requests including licensing requests.
• Work closely with the commercial department on opportunities and timelines for sponsorships.

Post Production:

• Ensure all projects have a relevant content ID number
• Media management of post production software, including creation of folders, access allocation and final deliverables checks
• Liaise with Subtitles , language reversion suppliers and other language channels - supplying assets and receiving deliverables

Financial

• Ensure all projects are fully scoped and budgeted before starting production and writers are informed on budget perimeters, maximising budgets to elevate the content quality.
• Accurate cost tracking of project budgets
• Clear, accurate and prompt processing of invoices, expenses and credit card receipts
• Align with finance on budgets and spend

Team:

• Work closely with the writers to foster a dynamic and solutions driven production approach
• Line manage a Production Researcher, Animators / Illustrators and Editors and any ad-hoc freelance production support to ensure they are set up for success, able to do their best work and they are clear on their responsibilities
• Provide clear guidance to the team on priorities and ensure their work schedules are clearly assigned.
• Forward plan team capacity for both the internal team and freelancers
• Source, interview, allocate tasks for and onboard staff and freelancers

Requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

• A passion and love for Veritasium and science, having been aware of the channel and having familiarity with its content.
• Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workflows in tandem and prioritise tasks.
• Strong team skills with proven experience working with creative teams to offer production solutions and help execute create vision.
• Proficiency in project management, ensuring the timely delivery of content while maintaining high standards.
• Experience with Monday.com software
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A strong working understanding of YouTube's platform and best practices
