Vice President, Sales Enablement at Thomson Reuters

Job Descrption

The Vice President of Sales Enablement will work with Sales leadership and help develop our enterprise-wide global sales training and development function within Thomson Reuters. They will be the key business partner to our field sales organization and report to the Head of Commercial Excellence. This role will oversee a team of sales trainers, curriculum designers, and learning business partners. In addition, this person will also establish relationships with external organizations who have the expertise to support our program needs on a flexible basis. The ideal candidate for this role is expected to have outstanding analytical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. This candidate will be data-driven, self-motivated, intellectually curious, a fast learner, detail-oriented, and able to move quickly while staying focused on high impact projects.

About the Role
In this opportunity as Vice President, Sales Enablement, you will oversee a team of 30 enablement professionals with responsibilities that include:

  • Sales onboarding, coaching, ongoing training and development processes and the tooling infrastructure required for delivery

  • Understand the current and future needs for field enablement and assess skills and competencies by role, identify training gaps, develop and drive training programs by sales role, product family and region

  • Build an integrated, sustainable and strategic approach to sales enablement that equips sales teams with the right tools, content and training to succeed, and sales leaders with learning analytics to support predicable sales intelligence

  • Build certification programs specific to the nuances of the different sales role levels (rep, manager, director) and sales role types (new sales, client management, small account sales, etc.). Programs will encompass skills to support the entire salesperson lifecycle: sales tools and process training, key sales skills and capabilities (value-selling, negotiating and closing skills, cross-selling), product training and continuing sales rep skills development as needed

  • Collaborate with leadership in sales segments, product marketing, marketing, global events and others to create and package highest value content (sales playbooks, training decks, presentation) to ensure right message is delivered to the customers at the right time

  • Partner with sales on sales readiness assessment and support rollout of new products, campaigns, business changes and expansion into new markets

  • Track and report key operational metrics and OKRs for enablement against strategic sales objectives

  • Ensure the sales employees receive consistent, ongoing training through a blended learning approach (live training, e-learning, and self-guided learning) using appropriate instructional design methods, adult-learning theory and applications

  • Provide inputs and recommendations to centers of excellence and HR Business Partners, in identifying critical roles and key talent pool and support the growth of future sales management bench strength and leadership pipeline

  • Report Quarterly results and impact to the Sales leadership team and incorporate feedback in design of current and future training programs. Utilize participant data and productivity/quality performance data to link training with business impact

  • Engage with external 3rd party service providers in the delivery of training and learning curriculum for sales reps

  • Deploy advanced learning and development tools to automate content consumption with on-demand delivery and usage tracking

  • Lead planning and execution of key events like ASM (Annual Sales Meeting)

  • Develop new training modules for change program, modernizing our sales force and improving sales effectiveness

  • Business Analysis, as required, to provide insights into field engagement

About You

Skills & Competencies

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence all levels within the organization, especially with senior management and executive levels

  • Strong interpersonal skills to constructively collaborate across channels, functions and businesses

  • A consultative and customer centric approach. Able to speak in front of senior executives as well as write clearly concisely and compellingly

  • Experience managing and coaching a team of high performing employees

  • Strong thought leadership, influential communication skills, and a capacity to guide and direct field-facing initiatives through the leadership team

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to solve problems and provide practical business insights from complex datasets

  • Ability to guide the team in overall design, development and delivery of sales training and development initiatives, to enhance field sales skills and capabilities and increase sales productivity; including solutions-selling, soft-skills, technical, leadership, and people management

  • Proven effective project management capability in a highly-matrixed, customer-centric organization

  • Always focused on doing what’s right for the business. High energy and contagious enthusiasm. Willing to take on tough projects and challenges with demonstrated knowledge of the needs of the Sales teams

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required

  • 10+ years of Sales enablement leadership experience

  • Prior experience with a fast-growth enterprise software or technology company in sales and sales management highly preferred

  • Experience leading virtual and global teams in multiple time zones

  • Prior people management experience required

  • Experience leading sales enablement, leadership development, sales events and training evaluation. Demonstrated expertise developing role-based training and development curriculum and programs

  • Proven track record and expertise in building best-in-class sales academy programs or role-based training and development in similar sized organizations

  • Willing to travel as needed - estimated 20%

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following metro locations: Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $192,500 - $357,500. The base compensation range in other locations may vary. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
