Asset Performance Engineer at Keolis

Job Descrption

The role of Asset Performance Engineer is integral to drive our data and analysis capabilities within the E&M department and wider business, and developing powerful and intuitive dashboards and visualisations within BI tools. The Asset Performance Engineer will act as a data champion for the E&M department, supporting to drive and implement best practices and techniques to develop and enhance our reporting and analysis capabilities.

 

  MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Asset Performance Manager in service and asset reliability tracking by monitoring and analysing asset performance of the Dubai Metro.
  • Line management of a team of Asset Performance Analysts to asset performance and other requirements, including objective setting and reviews, identification of training needs or requirements, and guidance of best practices for data analysis and modelling techniques.
  • Analyse asset performance to identify emerging or key trends, incorporating coordination with stakeholders to identify or develop appropriate action plans designed to improve or recover performance.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the business based on data analysis and modelling.
  • Production and delivery of cyclical and contractual reporting requirements in line with contractual timescales, incorporating stakeholder review and approvals.
  • Management and development of key documents and procedures, incorporating data management plans, work instructions and training materials.
  • Proactively review and monitor KPIs to ensure adherence, and highlight any deviations to support the business to implement appropriate actions or decisions.
  • Lead the development of complex data modelling and analysis initiatives to enhance business capabilities and provide long-term and sustainable solutions.
  • Develop and deliver data, analysis and reporting requirements, incorporating BI dashboards developments to support data-driven decision making.
  • Develop strong working relationships across business departments (E&M, Operations, Finance etc.) to under challenges and opportunities where data can support business decisions.
  • Support the continuous improvement of business Asset Health Centre, providing visualisations of asset performance, criticality and trends.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the business, including best practice in data analysis and modelling techniques.
  • Identify relevant data sources and sets to fulfil business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables.
  • Perform statistical, qualitative and predictive analysis on data sources pertinent to the operational performance of assets across the Dubai Metro, incorporating benchmarking against international standards.
  • Perform all necessary tasks to support production of all contractual and internal KPI reporting requirements, incorporating review to ensure consistency and accuracy prior to submission within stipulated timescales.
  • Assist in the development of business cases to support strategic investment in systems, processes and/or solutions to enhance data and reporting capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvements to working practices and processes to optimise efficiency and quality, and provide recommendations to streamline or improve.
  • Review data to identify gaps, shortcomings or inefficiencies in quality and completeness, and propose appropriate solutions or recommendations to improve.
  • Lead complex projects in support of new or evolving processes/products or for initiatives with cross-functional or organization-wide impact.
  • Promote a data-driven organisation and empower teams with automated and intuitive dashboards and visualisations.
  • Perform and carry out ad-hoc analysis and other duties as instructed/directed/agreed with the Asset Performance Manager or Senior Management.
  • Ensure security and integrity of all data provided including reporting performance, finance and customer information; reference Keolis-MHI non-disclosure policy.
  • To exercise personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare and for those affected by their acts or omissions; reference SMS GSOP-HSE1-6 Keolis-MHI organizational HSE responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all training requirements of Keolis-MHI and ensure adherence to these requirements at all times whilst in employment.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, breaches or potential breaches to appropriate management or the speak up process.

 

KEY SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate, motivate, develop and performance manage staff, including objective setting and performance reviews.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills to manage and interpret data with an ability to integrate, structure, and analyse large and complex datasets and sources to translate findings into compelling insights and proposals.
  • Ability to understand complex systems and willingness to learn new software-based applications and ways of working.
  • Advanced knowledge and application of SQL and Python.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, including development of complex formulas, macros and VBA scripts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, with an ability to develop visualisations and dashboards, incorporating application of DAX.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to develop detailed documents and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to apply methodical and logical approach to make appropriate recommendations and/or implement appropriate solutions.
  • Self-motivated and resilient, with an ability to efficiently manage and prioritise multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly and effectively to unanticipated workloads.
  • Ability to engage and present at all levels to influence change.
  • High attention to detail and committed to data integrity.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.
  • Ability to tell impactful stories and insights using analysis and data visualization.

  • Able and willing to share opinion, challenge the ‘norm’ and propose ideas and suggestions to improve working practices.
  • Fluent in English.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Extensive hands-on knowledge and application of data analysis and data modelling techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Power BI, incorporating the development of dashboards and visualisations.
  • Knowledge and application of statistical computer languages including SQL and Python.
  • Knowledge and application of enterprise asset management systems, preferable IBM Maximo, or developed knowledge and understanding of big relational database models.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a data or performance management based role.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing teams of data professionals.
  • Proven track record in development and application of data modelling, analysis and reporting techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge and application of enterprise asset management systems, preferable IBM Maximo, or developed knowledge and understanding of big relational database models.
  • Experience querying large databases and datasets and using statistical computer languages in order to extract and model required data: Python, SQL, etc.
  • Experience developing dashboards, analytical reports and backend data solutions for front end Business Intelligence tools.
  • Experience of working in the rail or transport industry is beneficial.

 

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree or Masters in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Engineering or related discipline.
      
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or other appropriate Microsoft certification is preferable.
  • Python certification or accreditation is beneficial.
  • SQL certification or accreditation is beneficial.
